100th Anniversary of Church in Rakau

On May 29-30, 2004 in Rakau there took place the solemnity of the 100th anniversary of the church of Mother of God of the Rosary and of St. Dominic. On this occasion on May 29 Cardinal Kazimir Sviontek celebrated the Holy Mass. F. Dmitry Baryla, dean of the parish in Rakau, greeted the priests from Minsk and the deanery of Rubiazhevichi, administration and teachers of Interdiocesan Major Seminary of St. Thomas Aquinas in Pinsk, representatives of the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Poland, representatives of republican, regional and local authority as well as numerous parishioners and guests.

During the Holy Mass His Eminence imparted the sacrament of confirmation to 98 believers. Together with the youth of the parish a lot of elder people receive the sacrament, as it was only several decades ago that confirmation had been imparted to believers of the parish.

In the evening in front of the church there took place the concert of the youth group Magnificat from Babrujsk. Hundreds of inhabitants of Rakau and its guests spent their time accompanied with wonderful music and plenty of interesting amusements.

At midnight the prayer for the dead began - for those who founded, built, maintained, defended and renewed the church. After the procession to the cemetery and prayers in the chapel of St. Ann there took place the youth pernoctation.

The next day 17 children, prepared by s. Alexandra OP, for the first time in their lives received the Holy Communion. F. Dr. Jan Kremis, vice-rector of Interdiocesan Major Seminary of St. Thomas Aquinas in Pinsk presided over the solemnity.

At the end of the celebration there took place the concert of wonderful organ music performed by Master of Arts, organist Uladzimir Neudah.
