Solemnity of St. Barbara in Diocese of Vitebsk
This year the day of memory of St. Barbara coincided with the second Sunday of Advent. That’s why the solemnity in the main church of the diocese of Vitebsk, which has the title of St. Barbara, was transferred to the Saturday evening, December 3, 2005. On this occasion in the church there gathered numerous believers – representatives of all the parishes of Vitebsk.  |

Pilgrimage to Mother of God of Mercy
For Vitebsk parishes of St. Barbara and St. Anthony it became tradition to organize the pilgrimage to the Mother of God of Mercy annually on November 16. This autumn was not exception. After the Holy Mass a bus with pilgrims started to Vilnius to the church of St. Barbara. |

Meeting of Talented Youth in Vitebsk
On November 16 in the house of Caritas of the diocese of Vitebsk there took place the Meeting of Talented Youth. The aim of such meetings is to discover new talents among young people. Thanks to these meetings young people have the possibility to demonstrate their creativity. |

Three New Priests in Diocese of Vitebsk
On November 12 in the parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Varapayeva there took place great solemnity. That day three deacons were ordained priests: Valery Orsik, Aleh Pivavar and Slavamir Samkovich. |

Meeting of Former Graduates of Grodno Major Seminary in Padsville
Priests, who studied in the Major Seminary in Grodno in 1993-1999, meet every year in order to pray together, to strengthen themselves spiritually and to share everything that takes place in their lives and their parishes. This year the meeting took place on September 26 in Padsville, not far from Glubokaye, where F. Jury Barauniou works as dean of the parish. At the meeting there were two priests from the archdiocese of Minsk-Mohilev, three priests from the one of Vitebsk and ten priests from the one of Grodno. |

Feast of Birth of Blessed Virgin Mary in Braslav
On September 8 the Catholic Church celebrated the feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is one of the main feasts in the parish in Braslav (diocese of Vitebsk). The church has the title of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary that is why every year this solemnity gathers numerous believers from Braslav and its surroundings. |

Under Intercession of Queen of Lakes
On August 22 in Braslav there took place the feast of the Mother of God, Queen of Lakes, at which there were as usual numerous participants. Group of believers was administered the sacrament of confirmation by His Excellence Władysław Blin, Bishop of the diocese of Vitebsk. That day there also took place the meeting of priests and religious of the diocese of Bitebsk. |

Sanctification of First Monument to John Paul II in Belarus
On August 15, 2005 – the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – in the parish of St. Ann in Mosar (diocese of Vitebsk) there took place the solemn sanctification of the first monument to the Pope John Paul II. |

Priestly Ordination in Rositsy
On June 11, in the church of the Most Holy Trinity in Rositsy, deacons Alaksandr Shamrytsky, Andrey Sidarovich and Alaksandr Zharnasiek – who are members of the Marian Order – were ordained priests by His Excellence Władysław Blin, Ordinary Bishop of the diocese of Vitebsk. |

Medical Conference in Vitebsk
On June 4, 2005 in Vitebsk there took place the First Medical Conference devoted to problems of medical ethics in the modern world. During numerous meetings with Bishop Władysław Blin, doctors, who take part in life of Vitebsk parishes, paid attention to the necessity to organize more systematical pastoral work with health care workers of the diocese. During one of such meeting there appeared the idea to hold a medical conference. Organizers of the conference: on behalf of Bishop’s Curia there was F. D. Tomasz Czarnocki, official of the Bishop’s Court; on behalf of medics there were Ludmila Yarmolava and Siarhej Sipaila. Thanks to the benevolence of Rector of Vitebsk Medical University there was the possibility to hold the conference in one of the conference-halls of the University. |

Meetings with Talented Youth
Three times a year, on Bishop Vladislav Blin’s initiative, in Vitebsk Caritas, there take place meetings with talented youth from Vitebsk and other towns of the diocese. On April 12 of the current year such a meeting took place anew. There participated young artists of the Vitebsk Vocational Training College, translators and poets from Vitebsk, singers of the choir Hosanna, musicians of the Academy of Music, as well as student-theologians of the Vitebsc University of Masherov. |
